Week beginning 7th March 2022

This week we have been continuing to find out about The Amazing Americas and have been writing a biography for Pocahontas, these will be displayed in our classroom when finished.

Our art sessions have been focussing on North American artists, so far we have looked at John Singer Sargeant, who painted full length portraits, Ansel Adams (a photographer specialising in landscapes) and this week we discussed Helen Frankenthaler’s abstract paintings. She would put her canvas on the floor to paint and we emulated this using large sheets of paper and creating abstract body art in her style. These are displayed outside our classroom in the corridor, if you wish to come and see.

During music sessions we have been studying music from other cultures, in particular the North American chanting. We have written and composed our own chants and drum beats and are practising these with relish.
