Good Morning Everyone
This week seems to have flown by!
In English this week, having finished reading The Street Child before half term, we discussed the plot and the difficulties of Street children, in particular Jim Jarvis, who is the hero of the story. The children were then asked to come up with ideas for a sequel to the book. They came up with some very imaginative ideas and titles and everyone wrote a synopsis of their planned sequel. Jim Jarvis was the street child responsible for making Dr Barnardo aware of the homeless children on the streets, so in our topic work we watched a BBC clip about his life and produced a fact file about him. What an interesting, worthwhile life he had!
In Maths this week the children were asked to estimate the weight of a variety of objects, and then to weigh them accurately and work out the difference between their estimate and the actual weight. They were all surprised at how difficult it is to estimate accurately.
In Music we are learning a song called Barbecue Blues, which tells the tale of a typically wet British barbecue. We hope to perform this at the end of term with instrumental accompaniment.
We are all looking forward to our Victorian Day on Tuesday.
In the meantime, have a lovely weekend.
