We had a lovely start to the week! On Monday the whole school went to church to celebrate Pentecost. As ever I was very proud of all the children; they read their thoughtful prayers clearly and behaved impeccably.
In Maths this week we have been measuring. Depending on age and experience the children have measured in cm and mm (they all found the mm measuring quite challenging!), converted cm to mm and m to cm and solved “length” problems.
All of the children produced some descriptive writing this week and I was delighted with the quality of the adjectives, adverbs, similes and alliteration they used.
In our Topic Work we finished reading “The Street Child” which they have all enjoyed listening to and completed our work about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. Endurance is our Christian Value this half term and when studying these nurses we discovered that both of them had to demonstrate a great deal of endurance in order to achieve their ambition of nursing the soldiers in The Crimean War.
In Science we have started a new topic: States of Matter. This week we looked at the particle properties of gases, liquids and solids and sorted some materials.
I wish you all a very enjoyable half term holiday. Let’s hope the weather stays fine!
