Learning Activities for Wednesday

I hope you are having a good week so far.

Below are some learning activity ideas for today.


Learning Objective/Focus:To write a re-count.
Main input (explanation)Talk to your child about some fun family memories. What can they remember?  
You could use photographs to help.
ActivitiesLook at today’s phoneme and complete the activities on the slide.
Talk about things you remember doing or places you have been with your family. What happened? Does it make you feel happy? Maybe it is a funny memory and it makes you laugh!
Write about your favourite memory.   Remember: Think it. Say it. Write it. Read it.    
Extension Activity IdeasRead what you have written to someone else.


Learning Objective/Focus:To subtract 1 digit numbers from 2 digit numbers crossing 10.
Main input (explanation)Continue exploring subtracting 1 digit numbers from 2 digit numbers using equipment to help.
ActivitiesUse objects to solve these calculations.

Use a 10 frame or number line to solve these calculations.  
Use a number line to solve the following calculations.  
Extension Activity IdeasShow this on a 10 frame.  
First there were 10 apples then 4 were eaten. Now there are 6.  

Show this on a number line.  
First there were 12 pencils then 7 were taken away. Now there are 5.   Beth is using a number line to work out 13- 4. Her answer is 8. Is she right? What has she done wrong? What should the answer be?      

Foundation Subject

Learning Objective/Focus:To move in different ways.
Main input (explanation)In the story of Jack and the Beanstalk, Jack was meant to take the cow to the market to sell. Today we are going to the market and swapping the cow for magic beans.
ActivitiesWarm up – play Simon says.  

Pretend to go to the market to get some food. Try moving in different ways, and using different types of steps. What can you see at the market?
Don’t forget to look high and low!
Collect the shopping!  
Use some different objects as items for sale at the market and a box or bucket for your shopping basket.   Spread the objects around as if they are on different market stalls. Run to collect each item for your basket. (only collect 1 item at a time)  
How many items can you collect in 1 minute?  
How quickly can you collect all the items?  
Can you put the items back in the correct places as quickly as you collected them?  
If you have siblings why not see who can collect the items the quickest.  
Ask an adult to play the beans game. Can you explain how to play the game?  

Someone calls out different types of beans and the child shows a pose or action for that bean. Beans could be jumping, running, string, broad, magic, Mexican, coffee, baked, French or jelly.
