Learning Activities for Wednesday

Good morning, hope you have had fun in the snow and managed to keep warm. Below are some learning activities for today:

English

Learning Objective/Focus: Reading comprehension focus: Chapter 13: And the Lion Shall Lie Down with the Lamb and Chapter 14: Adonis Blues.

Main input: Access the PowerPoint for Wednesday.

Listen to The Butterfly Lion – if you have a copy of the book follow along. Answer relevant questions using sentences and consider your handwriting.

Activities: Must: Complete all vocabulary and retrieval questions.

Should: As above and complete explanation questions.

Could: As above then complete prediction questions.

Extension: Complete the summarise part of the task.

Maths

Learning Objective/Focus: Forming expressions .

Main input: See PowerPoint.

Activities: Must: Fluency activity.

Should: Reasoning activity.

Could: Problem Solving activity.

Extension: This function machine gives the same output for every input.

For example if the input is 5 then the output is 5 and so on.

History

Learning Objective/Focus: To continue to develop a chronologically secure knowledge and understanding of British history.

Main input: Find out the main events of World War I. Think back to our last topic (just before Christmas) when we discussed World War 1 through poetry.

Activities: Must: Research the ‘Victoria Cross’. Why was it given to people? Who received it?

Should: Create a timeline showing the events of each character in the story.

Could: Write a letter home pretending you are in the trenches. Think about how you might feel and what you might see.

Extension: Design a uniform for a soldier to wear during World War 1.
