Listen to The Butterfly Lion – if you have a copy of the book follow along. Answer relevant questions using sentences and consider your handwriting.
Activities: Must: Complete all vocabulary and retrieval questions.
Should: As above and complete explanation questions.
Could: As above then complete prediction questions.
Extension: Complete the summarise part of the task.
Maths
Learning Objective/Focus: Percentages – Missing values.
Main input: See PowerPoint.
Activities: Must: Fluency activity.
Should: Reasoning activity.
Could: Problem Solving activity.
Extension: A golf club has 200 members.
58% of the members are male.
50% of the female members are children.
(a) How many male members are in the golf club? (b) How many female children are in the golf club?
Art
Learning Objective/Focus: To improve mastery of art and design techniques, including drawing, painting and sculpture with a range of materials [for example, pencil, charcoal, paint, clay].
Main input: Look at the front cover for The Butterfly Lion (available on internet images or PowerPoints). Discuss features. Why is it effective? Or not effective?
Activities: Must: Design your own book cover for The Butterfly Lion using colouring pencils.
Should: Illustrate a page from the book – using graphite pencil to draw a line sketch.
Could: Draw a lion and annotate features.
Extension: Produce a 3D image of a lion – you could use clay, playdough, boxes or anything you find around your home.
