Listen to The Butterfly Lion – if you have a copy of the book follow along. Answer relevant questions using sentences and consider your handwriting.
Activities: Must: Complete all vocabulary and retrieval questions.
Should: As above and complete explanation questions.
Could: As above then complete prediction questions.
Extension: Complete the summarise part of the task.
Maths
Learning Objective/Focus: Order fractions, decimals and percentages.
Main input: See PowerPoint.
Activities: Must: Fluency activity.
Should: Reasoning activity.
Could: Problem Solving activity.
Extension: Make some fractions, decimals and percentages dominoes and play with a family member. You can find images to help on a search engine like Google or Kiddle.
Design and Technology
Learning Objective/Focus: To use research and develop design criteria to inform the design of innovative, functional, appealing products that are fit for purpose, aimed at particular individuals or groups.
Main input: The characters in the book discuss kites and flying them on Wood Hill. Research kites and how to make them. Look at a variety of different types of kite. Discuss with family members experiences of kite flying. Watch Mary Poppins scene when the children fly a kite.
Activities: Must: Design and make a kite that can be flown on Wood Hill.
Should: Investigate how high your kite will fly. Look at any improvements you can make to improve performance.
Could: Draw your kite and annotate your drawing. Label the different parts of the kite and materials you will use.
Extension: Write a story about the adventures of your kite as it gets free and flies away.
