I hope you have been enjoying your week so far.
We will be contacting all families this week and next, just to say hello and see if there is anything we can do to support you at this time. I have started putting examples of learning on the class blogs, so please do send in some
examples to be included.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Below are some learning activities for today.
English Learning Objective/Focus: To tell an adapted story.
Main input: Talk about the story the children have been creating. Explain how they are going to use this story to undertake the activities below.
Activities: MUST – Read their story to a favourite toy or someone at home.
SHOULD – Create- stick puppets for their story and rehearse re-telling their story.
COULD – Re-tell the story and create some music to go with the story.
Extension Activity Ideas: Read a book to someone, this could even be a favourite toy or a pet.
Learning Objective/Focus: To explore number bonds within 20
Main input: Number bonds are pairs of numbers that make a given number. We can use our knowledge of number bonds up to 10 to help us make number bonds up to 20. We can do this by making these number bonds and then adding the ten to the ones. i.e. to find 15 we could use number bonds to make 5
4+1= 5 Or 1+4=5
And then add the ten to one of the ones so our calculation becomes
14+1=15 Or 11+4=15
Activities: MUST – Explore the pairs of numbers that can be used to make 12.
Use 12 objects and find as many ways as possible of partitioning them into 2 groups. Have a go at writing the addition sentences as you go.
SHOULD – Choose a number between 10 and 20 and explore all the possible pairs of numbers that can make your chosen number. Can you do this in sequence? Can you use your knowledge of number bonds to 10 to help?
COULD – Use building bricks to make a tower for the following
How many is in the tower?
Now make this.
How many is in the tower?
Compare the towers. What is the same, what is different?
Extension Activity Ideas: Have a number hunt. Write numerals or words 0-20 on pieces of paper and ask someone to hide them. Hunt out all the numbers and sequence them.
Subject: Physical education/ music
Learning Objective/Focus: To create a dance routine
Main input: Ask the child about their favourite song. Talk about why they like it and how it makes them feel. Use this song for the activities below.
Activities: MUST – Create a dance routine for the chorus of the song.
SHOULD – Create a dance routine for the whole song.
COULD – Teach the dance routine to someone else.
Extension Activity Ideas: Sing some familiar nursery rhymes and make up some actions.
I can’t wait to see some of your learning!
