Below are some learning activities for today.
Learning Objective/Focus: To write the middle of a story.
Main input: Talk about what happens in the middle of your chosen story. Think carefully about what has happened, why it happened and how you might describe the events.
Activities: MUST – Draw a picture for the middle part of the story.
SHOULD – Write the middle of the story.
COULD – Use finger spaces, full stops and capital letters for names and the start of sentences.
Extension Activity Ideas: Create your own shop. Give your shop a name and make a shop banner. Write labels and price tags for the items in the shop.
Learning Objective/Focus: To find all the facts of a fact family.
Main input: You have now explored finding different addition and subtraction facts of a number, including writing the facts in different ways (e.g. 2+3 = 5 and 5 = 2+3). We call these fact families because they are all related to each other.
Activities: MUST – Can you find the fact family for these three numbers?
Remember to find the addition facts and subtraction facts. Can you record them all?
SHOULD – Choose your own 3 numbers (10 or below) and find the fact family.
COULD – Choose two different numbers that add up to make 4. Can you write the facts? Now choose 2 different numbers and write another fact family. What happens if you choose two numbers that are the same? How many number sentences can you make then?
Extension Activity Ideas: Practice counting to 20 forwards and backwards and starting from any number.
Subject: Physical education
Learning Objective/Focus: To aim at a target.
Main input: Create a target with different points for each area. This could be done using hoops or buckets or even chalks.
Activities: MUST – Throw a ball 3 times to hit the target. What is your highest score?
SHOULD – Aim at the target from further away. What is your score?
COULD – Make a smaller target. Can you score the same as on the larger target?
Extension Activity Ideas: Use a skipping rope and practice skipping. How many can you do?
